About

Oval Office Chronicles is a monthly project where I read about every U.S. president — in order — and write about what I learn along the way.

I’m not a historian. I’m just someone who loves to read, loves data, and is deeply curious about how we got here — how decisions made long before we arrived continue to shape the world we’re living in now.

History isn’t neutral. Neither is data. So instead of accepting the dusty-painting versions of these men, I’m approaching them as complicated, human, often messy people whose decisions still shape our lives today — including the lives of people they were never really thinking about when they made those decisions.

Expect nuance, extra-ness, footnotes, and the occasional astrological reference.

About Me

I’m a reader, a data nerd, and a lifelong learner with an unquenchable thirst to internalize as much knowledge as possible, simply for the sake of it. I’m not a historian — I’m just deeply curious, a little (or a lot) nosey, and very invested in understanding the systems and stories that shape our world.

I’m a Black, Queer woman who believes history (like data) is rarely neutral, and that sitting with the messiness of nuance is often more insightful than relying on the simplicity of believing objectivity exists. When I’m not reading or writing, you can usually find me leaning into other “old-lady” or nerdy hobbies: working on jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, doing paint-by-numbers, playing one of my 100+ board games, or watching an in-depth YouTube analysis of a movie or TV show I’ve never even watched.
